Web Content and Technology Accessibility Statement

NextLight & the City of Longmont is committed to serving all members of our community and we strive to ensure that our web content and information and communication technology is accessible to everyone.

We recognize the importance of providing equal access to our web content and information and communication technology. Our ongoing accessibility effort works toward being in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that our websites are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for individuals with disabilities.

Accessibility Features

Some of the steps we are taking to help ensure accessibility on our websites includes:

• Using clear and simple language
• Using appropriate color contrast
• Providing alternative text for images and other non-text content
• Ensuring that all pre-recorded videos have closed captions and audio descriptions
• Ensuring that our website and its components are compatible with assistive technologies, including screen readers and speech recognition software

Training

We are committed to providing annual training to our website content creators and editors on website accessibility best practices, including creating accessible content, using accessible templates, and testing for accessibility compliance.

NextLight & the City is committed to timely responding to any requests for a reasonable accommodation or modification.

Monitoring and Review

We will regularly review our web content for compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA and work to ensure that new content and updates meet accessibility standards. NextLight & the City reserves the right to remove inaccessible web content if needed. We will also regularly evaluate our accessibility policies and efforts and make updates as necessary. Assessment and Evaluation

NextLight & the City of Longmont conducted an initial audit and review of its information and communication technology in 2023 and made multiple determinations:

• The NextLight website should be updated
• 3rd party tools should be reviewed for compliance
• Vendors need accessibility requirements conveyed
• Documents on the NextLight website should be reviewed
